The first hint of Jesus Christ, widely known to many as Messiah, is in the passage Genesis 3:15, where God Almighty pronounced judgment upon Satan and said, “I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shall bruise his heel.” Jesus Christ is the seed of the woman. The seed of the woman is the spiritual strategic weapon of judgment that was established by God’s righteous judgment upon Satan. The seed of the woman is the mystery of salvation. The seed of the woman is the blue-print of God to destroy the power of Satan and set salvation in motion, leading man to the process of full restoration of the anointing that Satan had stolen from him in Eden.
Almost every book of the Bible said something ahead of time about Jesus Christ the Ultimate Savior. These few pages of the bible study are not enough to effectively talk about the Savior. Whatever understanding we share in this study is an overview of the love of God for humanity. About seven and a half centuries before the birth of Jesus Christ in Bethlehem, the hand of God was upon Prophet Isaiah. The prophetic knowledge of the King of Kings, Jesus Christ, was revealed to him. He accurately prophesied the conception, birth and mission of Jesus Christ on earth. “Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Emmanuel.” (Isaiah 7:14) Prophet Isaiah was in the spirit and he was also a mouthpiece of the Holy Ghost, revealing the mind of God as the Spirit gave him utterance. There is a salient point we must not lose sight of in this verse. “The Lord himself shall give you a sign,” meaning that no one would be left in the darkness concerning the wonders that would herald the conception and the birth of the King of kings on earth. The wonders started with the prophecy itself. The Prophet did not know the name of the virgin that would bear the pregnancy of Jesus Christ, but the name of the fruit of her womb, was revealed to the man of God. The book of Isaiah 9:6–7 says,
“For to us a child is born, to us a son in given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.”
In the passage above, the prophet continued the deep revelation about the plan of salvation onto mankind. A careful attention to the following phrases and a reflection of the thought of God concerning humanity reveals the unparalleled love that God had for man. In the tender mercy of God the Bible reveals, “unto us a child is born,” and “unto us a child is given.” You need to understand that these phrases are not just common expressions, because “unto us a child is born” is different from “unto us a child is given.” Jesus Christ, the best of Heaven, was born of the virgin (signifying purity and holiness) into this world for a purpose of being a righteous gift of salvation. He was wrapped in love and presented unto whosoever desired to be saved and believed in Him and accepted Him by faith. (John 3:16) In Genesis 12:3c, God promised Abraham that, And in you [Abraham] all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” After a careful consideration you can see the link between the promise of God unto Abraham and the prophecy of Isaiah that Jesus Christ is the ultimate blessing of God unto mankind. You can trace the genealogy of Jesus Christ to Abraham the father of faith.
The manifestation of the blessing that God designed to bless the entire world through Abraham began with the Holy Ghost conception of Jesus Christ in the womb of Virgin Mary. Angel Gabriel paid Mary, the would-be mother of Jesus Christ, a spiritual visit and revealed the purpose of God concerning her life and the divine fruit of the womb that she would give birth to. Angel Gabriel delivered the anointed message of the Living God and the miracle of conception took place. The visit of the angel confirmed the prophecy of Isaiah – “The Lord himself shall give you a sign.”
The King of kings set aside His splendor in heaven and took on the nature and appearance of man. Perhaps you wonder why? Jesus Christ had to put on the coat of flesh to understand the weakness of the flesh so as to overcome the perennial spiritual problems of the flesh. He was born in the lowly manger amidst the bleating sheep. But the glory of God heralded the presence of the King on earth. Angels in heaven rejoiced that the King had been born on earth. Whenever an earthly king is born, there is always splendor and pageantry, but when the Creator came to the world, the concerns of the flesh occupied the mind of man. They were not spiritually sensitive to perceive the on-going spiritual signs and wonders of God but the shepherds in the manger were not ignorant; they witnessed the birth of Jesus and they worshipped the King of kings.
Before the commencement of the ministry of Jesus on earth He was baptized. At that very moment when He was coming out of the water heaven was opened, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” (Matthew 3:16–17) Let us draw an inference from this event. A guest speaker does not come to the podium to speak to people without a formal introduction by somebody who knows him very well. Also, a visiting minister will not just come to the pulpit to preach the sermon without a formal introduction from the church minister who knows him. Today, the minds of many have been clouded with the spirit of unbelief. The present day philosophy and the so called ‘civilization’ have blindfolded the minds of so many people and as a result, they find it difficult to acknowledge the divinity of Jesus Christ. God knew that this would happen. God did not send the Fairest of Ten Thousand to the world without making Him known to the world. In His thoughtfulness He did everything to remove doubt from our minds. During the baptism of Jesus Christ that signified the beginning of His ministry on earth, God gave a formal introduction of the Savior. Holy Spirit descended like a dove and lighted upon him to herald the beginning of His ministry and a voice from heaven introduced Him saying, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” (Matthew 3:17)
In the conversation that Jesus had with Nicodemus, the secret disciple, he revealed the depth of His ministry. He said, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16) Relate this revelation to the prophecy of Isaiah, “unto us a child is born,” and “unto us a child is given,” to prove an important point that Jesus Christ is the ultimate revelation of the love of God to humanity in order that we may have everlasting life.
When Moses asked God on Mount Horeb, “When I come to the children of Israel and say to them, “The God you’re your fathers has sent me to you, and they say to me, ‘What is His name? What shallI say to them?” And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, “I AM has sent me to you.” (Exodus 3:13-14) The same precious “I AM” was the name that Jesus Christ revealed to the children of Israel at many instances to point to them that He was the solution to their problems. There are powerful messages behind the following seven I AMs of Jesus Christ that are eye opener to those who receive the revelations.
- I AM the Bread of life (John 6:35, 41, 48, 51)
- I AM the Light of the world (John 8:12)
- I AM the Door of the sheep (John 10:7, 9)
- I AM the Good Shepherd (John 10:11, 14)
- I AM the Resurrection and the Life (John 11:25)
- I AM the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6)
- I AM the true Vine (John 15:1,15)
In the demonstration of the love of God towards humanity, Jesus Christ healed our infirmities. The woman with the issue of blood had the knowledge of the Lord’s ability and she said in her mind, “If I can touch the hem of His garment, I will be made whole.” She touched His garment and she received her healing. Jarius, a ruler of a synagogue recognized the divine power that existed in the Word of the Lord. He said, “say the word and my daughter will be made whole.” (Matthew 8:8) And she was brought to life in that very hour. The blind received their sight. The blind Bartimeus sought His face and cried, “Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me!” Heaven stopped at the cry of the beggar and Jesus said, “What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee?” And he said, “Lord, that I may receive my sight.” And Jesus said unto him, “Receive thy sight, thy faith hath saved thee.” (Luke 18:35-43) And instantly he received his sight. At the gate called Beautiful, a lame man asked for alms from Peter and John. But Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have but what I do have I to give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!” (Acts 3:6) And the lame man rose up and walked on the strength of His name. The hungry souls were fed miraculously. The dead were raised. Without the knowledge of the divine ability of our Lord Jesus Christ no one can experience his power. He had come that we may have life and have it more abundantly. The gospel was preached throughout the entire universe to inculcate into humanity the way of heaven and to point man to the saving knowledge of Savior Jesus. Spiritual opportunity became available to man once again to choose life instead of death; to choose restoration instead of condemnation.
According to the precept of the divine wisdom of God, the righteous that seize the opportunity of salvation and continue to watch will be gathered unto Him. “Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, ‘Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.’” (Matthew 25:34) The unrighteous that waste the opportunity of salvation or trivialize the knowledge of Jesus Christ will be separated for eternal destruction. “Then shall he say unto them on the left hand, ‘Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels.’” (Matthew 26:41) Even in our own generation, some still adamantly disregard the deity of Jesus Christ and consider Him the son of a carpenter instead of accepting Him as the Son of Living God. Some have made their minds set and have denied this knowledge of truth and continue to insist that God has no Son. Some are aware of this important truth but refuse to follow the path of truth. He is coming back again to judge those who refuse to accept the salvation that He brought to man. All eyes will see Him coming in the cloud with power of His glory.
If you know the Lord, though Satan and his fallen angels may harass you and tribulation is terrifying, be of good cheer for the Lord has overcome the world. Your portion will be counted among the victorious. If you don’t know Jesus Christ of Nazareth, the Savior, the Son of the Living God, the Lord of lords the King of kings, the One that was, the One that is and the One that is to come, it means the most important truth of life is eluding you. Even if you don’t know Him through the signs and wonders that surrounded his birth, you need to know Him through the wonders and miracles that came into existence through Him. You need to know Him through God’s personal introduction of Jesus Christ during His baptism and also at the Transfiguration. “This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased, hear ye Him.” You need to know Him through the account of His forerunner, John the Baptist. Even if you do not know Jesus Christ, have you ever wondered why Satan and his fallen angels recognize and terrify at His name? The demon possessed man said to the sons of Sceva, “Jesus I know, Paul I know, but who are you?” (Acts 19:13–17 KJV) If Satanic forces cannot identify you as one that belongs to Jesus Christ, it means your relationship with God is in danger. If you do not know Him now and establish a lasting relationship with Him before you die, it means you have come to this world with Godly potential within you, with many victories on the horizon and with so many lives to touch, but you have returned to your Creator empty handed. It means you have passed through the world but the truths of the Word did not pass through you.
“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus; who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.” (I Timothy 2:5–6) “And He (Jesus Christ) is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.” (I John 2:2)
Lord, I appreciate your death for me on the Cross, I also appreciate the price you paid with your precious blood for my redemption, let your blood purify and cleanse me, let your salvation plan lead me to partake in the finished work of Cross, and be my divine connection to your blessed presence at the Throne of Grace, in Jesus name
GOD IS OUR DIVINE SUSTAINER
For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works and that my soul knows very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them. How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! Psalm 139:13-17
From absolutely nothing to the remarkable miracle of birth God glorified Himself. He ordained development of the delicate organs of the baby and preserved the child in his or her mother’s womb. Imagine the mercy of God manifesting the miracle of growth of the tiny little baby from day-one till adulthood.
Few years ago, I watch a documentary where one medical doctor confessed that he performed on the average of 50 abortions every day before he called it a quit. If one medical doctor made this confession, imagine millions of babies that the abortionist doctors were killing every day all over the world. These babies were the creations of God that He fearfully and wonderfully made and covered in their mothers’ womb. You can understand and appreciate the miracle of birth in our century. Every baby that came out alive from his mother’s womb, including you, your birth is a major break-through, especially in the era of contraception drugs that frustrate pregnancy and amidst the conspiracy of secret murder of babies between their mothers and the abortionist doctors. If the dagger of abortion drug does not cut these innocent babies into minute pieces, they are at the mercy of their mothers who may decide at any time to terminate the existence of the pregnancy and allow her womb to become a human slaughterhouse for the abortionist doctors. This brief anecdote is not intent to be a megaphone of the pro-life movement but rather to reveal the peril that babies pass through in the womb and divine protection of God upon every child born in our century.
We always think that it is good food that brings about our growth; food may serve as a fuel in our body but the power of God brings about our developmental growth. “Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?” (Matthew 6:27) It is not medicine that brings about healing; the power of God makes man whole. This does not suggest that people should not use medicine when sick or disregard the usefulness of the physicians in the hospitals. But the professional knowledge of the physicians and all the ingredients of every medicine are subject to the divine power of God. “… I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the Lord that healeth thee.” (Exodus 15:26) “See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and make alive; I wound and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.” (Deuteronomy 32:39)
One of the glaring attributes of God is that He never gives man a substandard gift. Every breath of life He gave man at creation remains fresh till today, and so shall it be for ever. Every breath of life that we breathe in into our lungs is fresh from His presence. It has never been in short-supply—always available and we are not required to pay for it. Imagine how much you are paying for heating your home in the winter and the necessity of the inevitable expenses. Think about how much you pay Con Edison in order to have light in your home and to power the air conditioner or fan that cool your home in the summer. Think about the necessity of paying monthly for the utility and your phone bills so that you will not be disconnected from the comfort and the world around you. You will now appreciate the gift of free and fresh breath of life from our Heavenly Father that goes to your blood stream to refresh every cell of your body throughout of your existence on earth. He made it available for both the righteous and the wicked.
God never blesses man and attaches sorrow with His blessing. “The blessing of the Lord makes one rich and He adds no sorrow with it.” (Proverbs 10:22) God will never give man a gift that he will have any good reason to reject. Even though in the narrow mindedness of mankind, we may say we do not want so much a gift or what God had given us is too small, but if we think deeply and consider the mercy and loving kindness of God behind anything He has given us, we will discover the thoughtfulness of the perfect God in everything He had done for us.
Our Father in Heaven is a meticulous God. If this is the only attribute of God you are going to gain in this booklet, I believe it is enough to transform your life for ever. For this purpose, please consider the detailed instructions in His covenant with Noah that spanned from Genesis 6:14-9:29. Also consider the detailed instructions He gave to Moses for the construction of the Temple and all the items of the temple in Exodus chapters 25-31. God never does anything haphazardly and thereby leaving room for anyone to suggest correction to the work of creation. If He executes any correction at all, like the creation of Eve, it was at His own infinite wisdom.
There is a divine laboratory in our body that we call alimentary canal. Every one of us eats food, chews it and swallows it. Whatever happens to the food after we swallow it is entirely the handiwork of God. There is a grinding mill in the stomach. The power of the Lord powers the milling factory. Acidic chemical composition known as digestive enzymes would be added to the food in our stomach in order to break down the food properties to separate the nutrients from the shaft and yet this acidic chemical never hurts our sensitive stomach. It is amazing how God can co-exist an acidic agent with the wall of stomach. With God, however, all things are possible. The nutrients are absorbed into our body through the small intestine but the indigestible particles of the food traveled through the length of our intestine about twenty-two feet before they are ejected out of the body. Our bones never outgrow the muscles; they grow in proportion to the size and weight of our muscle that the bone can carry. All delicate organs of our body are perfectly protected. The brain is protected by the hard skull bones and the spinal cords are protected by the segmented chains of strong back-bones. The heart and the lung are secured in the rib-cage bones. The functions of these delicate organs of our body are ordered by the power of God that scientists call involuntary actions. Think about the network of blood capillaries that are in the circulatory system. Consider the intricacies of the network and coordination of our nervous system. Imagine the detailed thoughtfulness of God about the setting of the skeletal bones and the arrangement of the clusters of muscles and tendons that cover our bodies.
Do you wonder why God has taken time to perfect all these mysteries of living in the life of man? The awesome reason is to protect and preserve His spirit that resides in the house of clay (our body) so that man may function perfectly in the appreciation of his Creator. “But there is a spirit in man: and inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding.” (Job 32:8) “The spirit of man is the candle of the Lord, searching the inward parts of the belly.” (Proverbs 20:27) This is the spirit that the book of Ecclesiastes 12:7 was talking about that at the end of the journey of life, “Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and spirit shall return unto God who gave it.” If you do not know that God pays personal attention to your existence on earth, the brief account of His obvious care over your physical existence will give you an idea of how much He loves us. This will also give us an idea of what He is doing in the spiritual realm to rescue us from the clutches of the archenemy of mankind. If the Creator can go to this extent in demonstrating His loving kindness to you, will you not consider establishing a detailed and personal relationship with God Almighty who loves you so much?
Perhaps you are wondering how to establish this personal touch relationship with God. The first step is to seek to know him through the wealth of His words and endeavor to live your life according to the precepts of the knowledge of the word. Create time for God out of your daily busy schedule to read and meditate upon his words. When you are reading the word of God, you are opening a line of communication with your Creator. It will amaze you the way He will speak back to you powerfully through the inspiration of Holy Spirit. Boldly talk to Him in your prayer. There is no specific way you have to arrange your prayer before He can answer you. You are His sons and daughters; at any point you start, He will joyfully accept your supplication. Begin to call upon His holy name and pure your heart unto Him the way you understand. Praise and worship the only God who deserves your praises. You will experience Him anew and the experience will become noticeable. Your friends and loved ones will say, “You have changed!” In no time you will begin to invite them to come and taste the beauty of the Lord.
O Lord, I come to the realization that you are my sustainer and you are everything to me. Give me the grace, Heavenly God, to live in this understanding in my relationship with you through out my entire years on earth, in Jesus name, Amen.
