TEXT: II Corinthians 10:4-5; Ephesians 6:10-18
There are some passages we read in the Bible that gives us hints of the knowledge of the spiritual realm that was not expressly discussed in the Bible. One of them is II Corinthians 10:4-5.

It is implied that if the believers have spiritual weapons, it means there is ongoing spiritual battle. If there is a battle, then, there is enemy or enemies that we are fighting. Since this is the case, we have responsibility to identify these enemies. Ephesians 6:12 helped to identify these enemies when it says, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” The captain of the battle of these evil and wicked agents is Satan.

In John 10:10, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.” Satan is described figuratively in this passage as a ‘thief’ because he disguised himself to enter into the Garden of Eden to rob Adam and Eve of their God given blessings. The passage also revealed the three way attack of Satan—to steal, to kill and to destroy. These battles range from verbal war to actual physical destruction of body and soul of mankind.

Every physical battle that human being experienced originated from the spiritual realm. Every spiritual battle from the camp of the wicked ones is targeted against the purpose of God in the life of a man and it is always intended to steal, to kill and destroy the laudable purposes of God.

The Captain of our battle is the Lord God Almighty. Enemy did not want Israel to reach the Promised Land which obviously was against the purpose of God. Therefore the Lord Himself spiritually led Israel. “Neither,” He replied. “I have now come as Commander of the LORD’s army.” Then Joshua fell facedown in reverencef and asked Him, “What does my Lord have to say to His servant?” The Commander of the LORD’s army replied, “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy.” And Joshua did so. (Joshua 5:14-15) And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the LORD am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my lord unto his servant? And the captain of the LORD’S host said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest is holy. And Joshua did so.

The Lord also led the battle of His children to defeat the enemies. King David sought the face of God about what to do at the crucial moment of his leadership and God guided him. 1 Chronicles 14:14-15 Therefore David inquired again of God; and God said unto him, Go not up after them; turn away from them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees. And it shall be, when thou shalt hear a sound of going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt go out to battle: for God is gone forth before thee to smite the host of the Philistines.

Have you wonder while Saul determined to pursue David with 3000 soldiers with intention to kill him? Saul did not want David to become the next king in Israel. That was his objective to kill David. Do you think it was only because of the throne? But the ulterior motive of his master, Satan was deeper than that. Satan through Saul was targeting the destruction of the Ministry of Praise that God committed in to the hands of David to bless the entire human race. King David was the only king in history that established the ministry of praise, just like the government of the day establishes the ministry of Defense.

In 1 Chronicle 23:1-5 King David appointed 4000 Levites singers comprises of assorted divisions of musicians with 288 spiritual song leaders. King David was unwittingly doing the blessed will of God on earth as it was in heaven according to prayer of our Lord Jesus Christ. Remember that the major duties of the angels in heaven were to praise God in His holiness. We may be wondering and ask ourselves, what is the relationship of praise with the spiritual battle? When believers are praising God in the battles of their lives, it is an exhibition of faith that God is in control of the battle. Remember that Paul and Silas were singing and praising God when they were arrested and slated to be killed. What follow was their miraculous deliverance from the dungeons.

You can now understand why God preserved David in the cave on Engedi and Saul could not lay his hands on him to destroy him? Have you ever thought why God strengthen the hands of David to become a mighty warrior? Spiritual strategies and logistics of God wisdom are powerful and supernaturally efficient. The so-called wise men who are ignorant of the power of God always consider it as foolish. That is why God confound the wise with the foolish things.

Do you remember the logistics of the Jericho battle plans? God told Joshua to appoint the priests that will bear the Ark of Covenant and match round the city of Jericho, once a day for six days, at the seventh day, they should match round the city for seven times and after let out a shout. The city of Jericho fell like a pack of card after they unleashed a shout according to instructions of God. The Lord Himself was leading Joshua in those battles, and that was why he was able to defeat thirty-one kingdoms of the Canaanites. That is why the believers are so sure of the efficacy of the weapon of our warfare.

1. Presence of God–Isaiah 43:2—Shedrak, Mishach and Abedinego
2. Word of God—Luke 4:4, 7, 12
3. The name God—Proverbs 18:10; Philippians 2:9-11
4. Blood of the Lamb–Jesus Christ
5. Word of Testimony–Revelation 12:9-11
6. Praise—Makes us focus on God instead of the problem. Enemy attack man to distract him from paying attention to God. Israelites under the leadership of Joshua praised God, the wall of Jericho fell like a deck of card. Jehoshaphat praised God II Chronicles 20:20-22; Paul and Silas praised God in prison they had their victory
7. Believers authority—Matthew 16:19—Can only be exercised by believers in prayer by faith.

(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. (2 Corinthians 10:4-6)

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. (Ephesians 6:10-11)

“You are My battle-ax and weapons of war: For with you I will break the nation in pieces; With you I will destroy kingdoms; With you I will break in pieces the horse and its rider; With you I will break in pieces the chariot and its rider; With you also I will break in pieces man and woman; With you I will break in pieces old and young; With you I will break in pieces the young man and the maiden; With you also I will break in pieces the shepherd and his flock; With you I will break in pieces the farmer and his yoke of oxen; And with you I will break in pieces governors and rulers.” Jeremiah 51:20-23

You will chase your enemies, and they shall fall by the sword before you. Five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight; your enemies shall fall by the sword before you. (Leviticus 26:7-8)

How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them, and the LORD had shut them up? Deuteronomy 32:30

A thousand will flee at the threat of one; at the threat of five you will all flee away, till you are left like a flagstaff on a mountaintop, like a banner on a hill. Isaiah 30:17

Joshua 23:10
Judges 7:22-23
I Samuel 14:15-16
II Chronicles 24:24

Let us pray that God may give us victory over our enemies. Pray that the Lord may cast down every evil imagination of enemies against us. Let us pray that God may give us the spirit of obedience, faithful spirit, righteousness and humility before God that we may stand against these forces of darkness, in Jesus name.

The road may seem to be dreary, the journey seemed uneventful and the future tending towards uncertainty but if it is the Lord that is leading His people, they will not walk alone. His wings of protection will enfold them and victory is absolutely certain.
