New York City is one of the cities in the Western world that experience a considerable amount of snow in the winter season every year. When the snow falls, everyone appreciates the loveliness and beauty of the white snowflakes on the ground. This beautiful scenario of the snow depicts the expectations of God about how He desires that the human characters to be immaculately clean. The children loves it intently when the snow covered the surface of the ground like a carpet. They play around in the snow making ball of snow and throw it at each other.
Give the beautiful snow three days in the street of New York, you can hardly stand the scenery of its messy and ugliness. It is even worse after the parked cars on the street had been dug out of the snow and you have a mixture of garbage refuse trapped on the street by the prolonged snow on the street. One can almost ask, “How are the tones of these refuse be cleaned out of the streets of New York? The city refuse collection trucks of the Department of Sanitation of New York is not the answer to this herculean task. It only picks the packed garbage and even this is very difficult when the messy snow covered the ground. The City sweeping truck only sweeps the tarred roads, but the littered garbage and dirt on the curbs remains a big problems for the city dwellers.
The New Yorkers don’t dwell in their homes with stinking garbage. During the winter, they always pack them in the trash bags and put them outside waiting for the garbage collection trucks. The solution to this problem is amazingly simple–one rain! One heavy rain will clean all the garbage of dirt in the street. The messy ice will melt away, and the dirt will be washed away. And New York streets will once again become immaculately clean. This reminds us about the word of God in the book of Ezekiel 36:25-27, it says, “Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.”
When God cleanse His people He wants to use them and bless them. He wants them to experience peace in a new dimension. Malice, backbiting, unforgiveness, resentment and petty quarrels are the stinking spiritual garbage of your hearts. Bring out all the garbage of your hearts before God for His divine cleansing. The cleansing rain of His presence is available to you in this New Year. Jesus Christ died on the Cross for this divine cleansing procedures. Let the water of His word cleanse the dross of your hearts so that you can embrace salvation and become useful instrument in the hands of God.
Prayer: O Lord, I come to you the way I am, not in my self-righteousness, but with my humble spirit to obtain your righteousness that can see me to your Rugged Cross. Let the rain of your presence fall on me, in Jesus name.
