We have reminded ourselves on this website several times that God Almighty created the universe and all that dwell therein. Among other organs He created in man is our eyes. The eyes are the light of our body. We do not only see with our eyes; we derive an understanding about an object by mere looking at the object and we can interpret our observation about it. There is a strong communication between our eyes and our minds. Our eyes are a powerful guide in all walks of our lives. Interestingly, with our eyes we can behold the glory of God.
From the appreciation of the master piece organ of our eyes that God created, we can imagine how powerful His own eyes must have been. The 20/20 clarity measurement of a perfect vision is not enough to describe how powerful and precisely the eyes of God is. Far more better than security cameras that are monitoring on the activities around a specific areas of interest of the person who mounted those cameras, the powerful eyes of God are watching all the areas of His interest on the surface of the earth. He sits on His throne in Heaven and earth is His foot-stool. “He ruleth by his power for ever; his eyes behold the nations …” (Psalm 66:7) “The LORD hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all.” (Psalm 103:19) Several passages in the Bible confirmed this fact. In 2nd Chronicles 16:9a, the scripture says, “For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.” “Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD.” (Jeremiah 23:24)
Perhaps we are wondering: Why is God watching mankind? Far from the narrow imagination of man, our Heavenly Father is not a spiritual police monitoring the sinful people for the purpose of judgement. He is interested in the lives of the people that possess God-minded people–people that are righteous and dwell in holiness. People whose hearts are inclined to Godliness. I mean those people that fear Him who are always execute righteous judgment. These are the people that God is monitoring their spiritual consistency and steadfastness on earth. Yes, He is watching upon their lives because He is interested to partner with them about His divine interventions in the affairs of man.
King David, a man after God’s heart, wrote in one of his several inspired Psalms in an absolute surrender unto God saying, “Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend to heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the dawn, if I dwell in the remotest part of the sea, even there Your hand will lead me, and Your right hand will lay hold of me. If I say, “Surely the darkness will overwhelm me, and the light around me will be night,” Even the darkness is not dark to You, and the night is as bright as the day. Darkness and light are alike to You. (Psalm 139:7-12)
With this fact in mind the upright minded people should not relent in their Godly living. They should continue steadfastly in righteousness for that appointed moment that God will enlist them in His glorious mission on earth. In the same manner, the wicked people should also note that the eyes of God is patiently watching them and waiting for them to turn from their wicked ways and embrace the peaceful plans of God. The window of His mercy is still open to sinners. “Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign Lord. Rather, am I not pleased when they turn from their ways and live?” (Ezekiel 18:23 NIV) Please take the advantage of God’s grace today.
Prayer: O Lord, let me remain in focus of your mercy. Let my ways be pleasing unto you. Grant me the grace to desist from evil and embrace your plan of peace on earth, in Jesus name, Amen.
