Another name for New York is Big Apple. All the wealthy people in the world can trace their wealth to the Wall Street in the Big Apple. New York is the economic hub–or better still the nerve center of United States of America. All the nations of the world had their representatives in the Big Apple. United Nations is the political representation of these nations but beyond this are other representations. All the nations of the world have their spiritual representatives in New York. All the religious system of the world have establishment in the Big Apple. Big Apple was strategically and spiritually situated in the spiritual map of the world because whatever happens in the Big Apple affects every nooks and cranny of the world.
The desire of man about apple is that everybody wants to dip their incisors into a succulent fresh apple to the satisfaction and benefit of the eater. For pecuniary reasons, the nations of the world converged in the Big Apple. That is why everybody is interested in the Big Fresh Apple to consume it, to dominate it and eventually make a great fortune out of the city. Imagine what will happen if we only consume the good things of this city without any effort of laying a good foundation for future generations who will dwell in this city.
Remember that at a certain point in our lives; we were praying that God may open the door of coming to America for us. We fasted and did everything we could. Our prayers received divine approval. God opened the door but for a unique purpose to glorify Himself. As all forces were raging around us–God, the Master Builder, is on top of the game. He had strategically positioned every one of us here for a time and seasons like this to keep the Big Apple fresh.
Do not ignore your small beginning. (Job 8:7) Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase. You may look at yourself and wonder what God can do with the ‘little me’ and the little ministry that He had given you. We can find out from Gideon, the man that God called to deliver Israel from the Midianites. Judges 6:15 “And he said unto him, Oh my Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? behold, my family is poor in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house.” We can find out from Saul, son of Kish who said that he was the smallest in the Israel. I Samuel 9:21 “And Saul answered and said, Am not I a Benjamite, of the smallest of the tribes of Israel? and my family the least of all the families of the tribe of Benjamin? wherefore then speakest thou so to me?” We can find out from Prophet Jeremiah, who called himself a small boy. Jeremiah 1:7-8 “Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child. But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.”
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (II Chronicle 7:13-14) This city need replenishment. We can keep this city fresh by opening our mouths and call upon the name of God for His divine intervention, protection and defense of this city. You and I are not here by accident. Let us stand in gap and intercede for this city for God’s continue manifestation of His mercy and blessing in New York. Let us step up our evangelism ministry to reach out to the perishing souls in this city so that their hearts can be inclined to godliness, righteousness and be able to embrace salvation before it is too late. Let us endeavor to humble ourselves before God and use everything that the Lord had endowed us–our time and resources to glorify God in this city. If we can rise up and do our part, our faithful Heavenly Father will verify His word and exhibit His power in our ministries in this city for His glory, in Jesus name. That’s how to keep the Big Apple fresh.
Prayer: O Lord, make me an instrument in your hand to protect and keep this Big Apple and any city of my dwelling fresh and safe in terms of my spiritual services in Jesus name, Amen.
