I knelt to pray but not for long,
I had too much to do.
I had to hurry and get to work
For bills would soon be due.
So I knelt and said a hurried prayer,
And jumped up off my knees.
My Christian duty was now done
My soul could rest at ease…
All day long I had no time
To spread a word of God
No time to speak of Christ to friends,
They’d jeer at me I’d fear.
No time, no time, too much to do,
That was my constant cry,
No time to give to souls in need
But at last, there is time to die.
I was before the Lord in eternity,
I came and stood with downcast eyes.
For in His hands God held a book;
It was the Book of Life.
God looked into His book and said
“Your name I cannot find
I once was going to write it down…
But never found the time.”

There is no doubt, the inherent nature of man is that we always preoccupy ourselves with something we think that is important to us. But nothing is more important than to be sensitive to the impulses of Holy Spirit that is beckoning on us and reminding us to pay attention to our Creator. Later or sooner, we will realize that the greatest thing we are here to do on earth is to worship God and fear Him. Whether we like or not, one day we shall all leave behind those things that we consider very important to us and meet face to face with our Creator. “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.” (Ecclesiastes 12:13) Is God in your “To do” list, that is, the list of your important daily activities? Do You apportion a quality time for fellowship with your Creator? Think deeply when you still have time!
Prayer: O Lord, you always have time to give me the breathe of life, to provide me with your sustenance, and in your thoughtfulness You have time to meet me at the point of my needs and perfect your work of salvation in my life, please give me the grace to always set aside quality time for fellowship with you and for your services, in Jesus name, Amen.
