Some time ago in the month of July few years back, it was considerably very warm in the city of New York. The temperature was somehow high; it was in the range of 96 degrees Fahrenheit. People were really sweating. The street fire hydrant waters were open and running for children to get wet in the heat of the summer in order to cool down their body temperature. Some were panting for any type of icy cold drink like iced water or iced cream to cool down. This is, however, the order of the day in the tropical parts of the world whereby they experience almost twelve months of summer in every year. But it is not so in some cold region of the world where they experience all the four seasons of the year.
This remind us of the awesome power of God and His unparalleled mercy in the way He deals kindly with humanity as we found it in the scripture that says: “As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease.” (Genesis 8:22) Jeremiah found himself in an uncomfortable situation that more or less caused his faith to be shaken, the Lord God Almighty reaffirmed His covenant of restoration unto the Israelites and unto the household of David saying: “Thus saith the LORD; If my covenant be not with day and night, and if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth.” (Jeremiah 33:25)
There is no one like unto the Lord God Almighty, the Creator of Heaven and earth. No one can be compared with Him. He alone is God. In the praise and worship of King David He declared the divine ordinance of God saying: “He appointed the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth his going down.” (Psalm 104:19) Daniel could not hide his feelings and his joy when God revealed the dream of Nebuchadnezzar and the interpretation thereof; he worshipped God in a praise worship declaring His glory saying: “And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding.” (Daniel 2:21)
It is not the wisdom of man that provides the unlimited breathe of life to all creatures that subsist on it free of charge. “Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live. So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.” (Ezekiel 37:9-10) Haven’t you wondered how the bone is growing in our body and we never feel the pain in our muscles? Have you ever considered how the brain is maintaining communication with and control all the organs of our bodies? It is not the state of the arts sophisticated technology of man that upholding or regulating the ordinances of the day and night, it is the unsearchable wisdom of God and His infinite power that is constantly at work.
Whatever may be the situation you find yourself today, whatever may be the level of your perplexity, perhaps you do not know how to approach the matter, and you are completely clueless about what to do, I want to remind you that it is God that appoints the ordinances of the heaven and earth. Go to the Almighty God on your knees in prayers and plead your case. He laid the foundation of the earth, He is the citadel of mercy and grace. The ordinances of His compassion and mercy that are new every morning will meet your situations at the point of your need and restore you in Jesus name. “It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.” (Lamentation 3:22-23) You will have reason to praise His holy name. Remember from the word King David that, “from the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the LORD’S name is to be praised.” (Psalm 113:3)
Prayer: O Lord, let your divine ordinance of earth open the eyes of my understanding that I may appreciate your wonderful work of creation and enable me to embrace the enriching joy of salvation, in Jesus name, Amen.
