“And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years: And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.” (Genesis 5:22-24)  We do not have detail account of how Enoch walked with God in the Bible. Obviously, he must have walked with God with unique Christian characters before was he was heavenly bound. In like manner, Prophet Elijah walked with God, the army and secret agents of Ahab and the horrendous cruelty of Jezebel could not hunt and destroy him. Eventually, the chariot of fire carried him to heaven alive.  He did not see the corruption of death. Elijah was in the company of Moses and Jesus Christ at Transfiguration. “And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.” (Matthew 17:2-3)  Enoch and Elijah must have walked with God in the Christ-like characters listed below.

Faithfulness“By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Hebrews 11:5-6 Enoch walked with God by faith. He exhibited God pleasing type of faith because the just shall live by faith. “But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, “The just shall live by faith.” (Galatians 3:11)

Prayerfulness—The Patriarchs and the prophets were remarkable in their prayer ministries. Every stops that Abraham made in his journey to the land of Canaan according to the directives of God, he would set up an altar and worshipped God there. “And he removed from thence unto a mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, and Hai on the east: and there he builded an altar unto the LORD, and called upon the name of the LORD.” (Genesis 12:8)

Obedience—Enoch must have walked in obedience with God. The mark of our love for God is our obedience to His commandments. “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” (John 14:15) The Patriarchs lived in obedience to the commandments of God. They were commended by the Living God for obedience to the commandments of God. “Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.” (Genesis 6:22) “Thus did Moses: according to all that the LORD commanded him, so did he.”

Holiness—He must have walked in holiness with God. “But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.” (1 Peter 15-16)

Diligence—Like Noah, Enoch must have been moved by fear of God and sum up courage to walk diligently before God. “By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.” (Hebrews 11:7)  Diligence does not end in our secular activities.  It is also a force to recon with in our spiritual life. “The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.” (Proverbs 12:24) Work hard and become a leader; be lazy and become a slave. NLT  Apart from the fact that no one had ever build an ark before Noah, but perseverance and diligence mingled with spiritual insight saw him through the enormous project of the Ark of Noah that saved all living things on earth and the family of Noah.

Living for EternityFor he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.” (Galatians 6:8) “And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.” (1 John 2:17) There is corresponding product for every form of labor of humanity.  Products of our labor traced and locked to the individuals who exerted the labor.  We must be careful of what we are sowing in our labor. We must endearvor to so into the spirit so that we will not reap corruption.

Maintaining an active friendship with God—He must have maintained an active and cordial friendship with God. Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. (James 4:4) We cannot afford to be living a life that is disappointing to the honored relationship that we have with God.

Let us look inward and put ourselves in the position of Enoch and other raptured servants of God and weigh ourselves in the scale of acceptable characters of God.  Let us sincerely consider all our spiritual short-comings. Let us reconcile with our Creator and at the same time make our minds to detach ourselves from all forms of worldliness that tends to drag us down in to sinfulness. The end is fast approaching. We are living in the day of preparation. We have to be living each day in anticipation of the second coming of Jesus Christ in the expected standard of holiness and righteousness. By His grace, we will receive commendation in His presence at last in Jesus name, Amen.

Prayer: O Lord, endow me with a renewed mind that will be conformable to your law of righteousness and holiness so that overwhelming influence of this world will not overcome me in Jesus name.  Let me live an acceptable live that is pleasing to you in Jesus name, Amen
