“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” (Psalm 91:1) There is a place called the Secret Place of Almighty God. The Psalmist was not just embellishing the word of God without substance. The Secret Place of Almighty is the inner chamber of His relationship with humanity. The place is only known to people who are closed with Him. For example, in every house, there is a sitting room that is common to everyone. Most visitors to the house will only stop at the sitting room because it is in the inner room that the treasures of the house are kept. Usually, only the family members and perhaps, the closed knit friends can know where the treasured items are kept in the inner room.
Holy God dwells in the holy place therefore anyone that ever come to the secret place of the Most High must be holy and worthy to enter therein. “Exalt the LORD our God, and worship at his holy hill; for the LORD our God is holy.” (Psalm 99:9) In this secret place, the Lord God Almighty is always there. No righteous and worthy person ever knock at the door and was turn away. “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.” (Matthew 7:7-8) “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13)
If you ever hug anyone that put on a perfume or cologne you will discover that the fragrance of his perfume will linger on you for a while. Those who ever get to the secret place of the Most High, always experience the fragrance of the glory of God that He impacts and rubs upon His servants. Moses was in the presence of God for forty-days and night on Mount Sinai to obtain the Ten Commandment. When he came down from the mount, no one can directly look into his face because the glory of God was shining brightly on his face. “And the children of Israel saw the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses’ face shone: and Moses put the vail upon his face again, until he went in to speak with him.” (Exodus 34:35)
Perhaps you about to ask, “Where is the secret place of the most High?” The secret place of the Most High is not only in the temple of God, it is in the realm of the Spirit where our hearts is opened to Him in inspirational wisdom. It is where we are with Him one-on-one in holy relationship where we seek His face passionately with all our hearts in prayer. It is where our faith mingles with His promises when we cry Abba Father and swiftly the answer to our prayers are readily available. “Do not be afraid, Daniel,” he said, “for from the first day that you purposed to understand and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them.” (Daniel 10:12) It is a place of resounding victory over all our adversaries. “Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet. … I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.” (Psalm 91: 13, 15) It is a place of protection where angels mount their guards to ensure that the secret place is impenetrable by the forces of darkness. “For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. They will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.” (Psalm 91:11-12)
How can man dwell in the secret place of Most High? The dwellers in the secret place of Almighty are spiritual abiding people in an intertwined relationship with God. “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.” (John 15:4-5) They are dwelling under the shadow of Almighty, therefore they do not stray away into the world. They had separated themselves unto the Lord in obedience to the word of God. “Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, and will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.” (2 Corinthians 6:17-18) They willingly relish and maintain a divine relationship with Almighty God. They love the Lord and with a consecrated hearts and humility they obey His commandments. “If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land.” (Isaiah 1:19)
Only the people that are uniquely smart can identify the precious gold among the rubbles. Only the people that are uniquely and spiritually smart will dare to unearth the secret place of the Most High. The abundant blessing of God in Psalm 91:1-16 is amazing and the right-minded children of God will surely desire it. The scripture tells us that, “It is the glory of God to conceal a matter and the glory of kings to search it out.” (Proverbs 25:2) “The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.” (Deuteronomy 29:29) The secret place of the Most High is the place of prayer where we are one-on-one with God. A prayerful believer is a powerful believer. This is the place the believers can move the powerful hand of Almighty on our knees to do exploit among humanity. The Secret place of the Most High had been revealed unto us this day, it will bring forth glory to God if we can faithfully and diligently seek to know more about this precious place and desire to dwell in it for divine intervention of Almighty God among mankind. The Lord can use you and I for His glory if we are available in the secret place of the Most High. Think!
O Lord God Almighty, empower me through your grace to navigate in to Your Secret place. Heavenly Father grant me a right attitude, righteousness and holiness to dwell under your protective shadow. Make me a useful instrument in your hand to bless humanity while I abide under your Mighty Shadow in Jesus name, Amen.
