Many of us came to United States of America with at most, two suitcases in search of greener pasture called American Dream. For pecuniary reasons we left our homes to this beautiful side of the world. Some began by going to school through their noses. Some got into vocational training. Along the line we finished our educational courses. We sought for job and we got a befitting well paying job. We got settled. We entered into marital relationship with the spouse of our choices. We have children that call us Daddy and Mommy. We now have our own home with a steady income coming into our bank account every month. Perhaps we attained a prominent and enviable position in our office.
All your struggles and achievements are all within the plans of God concerning your life. All your dreams of good and better life in America had come true. But have you ever thought that without sleeping, there is no way a man can dream. Have you ever considered that it’s God that put you to sleep so you can dream and in His faithfulness and mercy, wakes you up in the morning in order to step into your daily activities. It’s Him that makes your dream come true. “I lie down and sleep; I wake again, for the LORD sustains me.” (Psalm 3:5) “I will lie down and sleep in peace, for You alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.” (Psalm 4:8) “It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat; for God gives rest to his loved ones.” (Psalm 127:2 NLT) God is the one that watches over you to weather every storm of your lives. Those ups and downs were all within His purview. He watched over you to sow and also watched over you to reap the good fruit for your efforts and enjoy them. The scripture tells us in Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” NLT
It is the desire of God that you are blessed in all your endeavors on earth. But one thing He requires of you and it very important that you also take it into a serious consideration. “But that is the time to be careful! Beware that in your plenty you do not forget the Lord your God and disobey his commands, regulations, and decrees that I am giving you today. For when you have become full and prosperous and have built fine homes to live in, and when your flocks and herds have become very large and your silver and gold have multiplied along with everything else, be careful! Do not become proud at that time and forget the Lord your God, who rescued you from slavery in the land of Egypt. (Deuteronomy 8:11-14) Wealth is very good and it the desire of God that we are blessed. But please, be not carried away with it and forget the giver of your wealth. Do not allow your American sweet dream to kill your precious eternity dream. Think Beloved!
Prayer: O Lord, let me never forget your love, your mercy and compassion. Lord grant me the grace to put you in the position of preeminence in my life in all things. Give me the grace to love you supremely over everything that I have on earth in Jesus name, Amen.
