We learned about this great garden in the first book of the Bible. It was called the Garden of Eden then. A beautiful garden with all the sustenance that man needed. Blessings that are sufficient to keep the soul and body of man together, so that no one will be tempted to do evil. Above all the presence of God was always visit the occupants of this garden, in the person of Adam and Eve at the cool of the day. The only task that was given unto man was to tend the garden and keep it, and eat the fruit thereof.
“And God blessed them, and God said unto them, ‘Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to everything that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.” (Genesis 1:28-30)
Then an intruder, the Devil, sneaked in to the garden to mess up the orderliness in the garden and an unprecedented corruption set in. Today the garden had been expanded and also become corrupted. It is no longer call the Eden. It is now known as the Earth. The extension of this corruption and pollution is the heart of man. In any way we look at the garden, it is still the garden of God. God is still ruling in the affairs of mankind. Heaven is His throne and the earth is His footstool. (Isaiah 66:1) God is still the sustenance of the inhabitants of the planet Earth with the population of about 7 billion. He brings forth the sun in the morning and make it set in the night. He rains upon the righteous and the wicked to bring them blessing, in anticipation that the wicked will turn away from their wickedness. “He maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.” (Matthew 5:45) He is still upholding the covenant He had with the day and night to bless and deliver His own who can turn from their sinfulness. (Jeremiah 33:20,25) His mercy is still endure forever. (Psalm 136)
You are one of the 7 billion inhabitants in this big garden of God. The responsibility of man had not changed–‘Walk through the garden to tend it tenderly, to maintain it that the purpose of creating the garden will be made manifest and to partake in the fruitfulness and the blessing of the garden.’ He had made a pronouncement of multiplication and fruitfulness upon man. Join hands with other faithful believers to maintain this glorious garden. Choose to be different in the way you righteously tend the garden of God. Pray for the healing of our land so that the abundance of its fruitfulness will bring health to the nations of the world. Do not become a tool in the hand of Devil to desecrate the garden of God with corruption and destruction. Maintain this garden in righteousness and holiness. Our Lord will bless our faithful endeavors, Amen.
