On November 21, 2023, I had a dream. In this dream, I saw a man that was in a state of despair. He cried aloud, “Where am I.” It was as if this man woke up from a stupor experience. He was looking here and there as if he was lost. This person asked himself this question as he was weeping and broken. Obviously in the dream the person was so devastated and was completely in oblivion of about the right step to take at the desperate moment. He cried helplessly and I was emotionally moved by his experience, and I found myself weeping with him. I came closer to him to counsel him. I told him that he should not bottle this terrible experience within himself. I also mentioned that I had found myself in the same experience at a certain time in my life.
I told him the story of how I came to United States of America in October 1989 with intention to spend only two weeks here during my vacation. When I finished the vacation and was about to go back home, I received a call from one of my closest office friend. He told me that a reorganization had taken place in the airline company I was working with, and my name had been removed from the payroll of the company then. Suddenly, when I least expected it, the gate of my lucrative employment was shut against me. I was so devastated and cried because I never planned to stay in United States leaving my wife with three children behind at home without making adequate financial provision for them for their comfort for the period of my absence. Returning to my country would mean that I will not be able to secure employment for a long time. I felt entrapped in America by the action of the company. I asked myself in tears, “What am I going to do now?” I cried in the anguish of my mind and sought the face of God in my tears and plead that He must mercifully step into this matter immediately and intervene in His infinite mercy and bring my family to me here in United State and establish us here. I resolved to hang in there and get any type of employment available in America to support myself and my family back home. And our Merciful Heaven Father answered the prayer. Today, all my family are fully settled in America. After my counseling with him, I tried to dip my hands into my pocket to minister to this man financially, as I was trying to do this, I woke up.
“Where am I? is an important question that needs an urgent and appropriate answer. Perhaps this could be a cry from someone that was lost. This type of question is always accompanied by flurries of questions. “What is happening to me?” “What am I going to do now?” This type of experience always manifests when one discovers that he is entrapped in physical or spiritual imprisonment. When Jonah found himself in the belly of a big fish, obviously he was entrapped but was still breathing, not dead. He must have asked himself, “Where am I?” Following this question, he must have asked, “What is happening to me?” Lastly, he would ask, “What should I do now?” The stubborn prophet recounted that he was heading to Tarshish in a complete disobedience to the commandment of God. He now saw the reason why he should repent and amend his ways. He humbly turned to God in prayer and repented his sins. In Jonah 1:1-2, the Bible says, “Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish’s belly, And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.” He then experienced his breakthrough and God commanded the fish to vomited him at the shore.
The enemy of Daniel schemed and conspired against him. They made the king enacted a decree that all the people in the nation should only worship the idol god of the king, “… that whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions.” (Daniel 6:7) Daniel prayed to the Heavenly God as his usual practice but the evil conspiracy of the wicked shut the door of death against him in the den of lion. Perhaps for a moment he asked himself the same question, “Where am I?” Certainly, he sought the face of God for help to save him from the imprisonment of these wicked enemies. God heard his prayers. He had his breakthrough because the mouth of the lion was shut, and they could not devour Daniel.
Where are you today? If no encumbrance was against you, I praise God for His grace in your life. Many people are hurting today and they are about to loose it. Look inward deeply and consider which entrapment or encumbrance do you find yourself in at this moment? Like me, was the door of your lucrative employment shut against you? Was the door of the prison of this worldliness shut against you? Are you entrapped by drug or alcohol addiction? Or do you find yourself in the imprisonment of occultism and you discovered that it is impossible for you to come out of the trap? Is it the imprisonment of your mind and you cannot figure out how you can come out? Whatever that had shut you out against your desired righteous comfort zone, I have good news for you today. The Scripture says, “When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.” (Isaiah 43:2) I want to assure you that you are not alone in your troubles, the presence of God is with you. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were not alone in the burning fiery furnace, the presence of God was with them. That was why they were not consume in the burning fiery furnace of King Nebuchadnezzar. Peter, Paul and Silas did not perish in the imprisonment of persecution. The presence of God was with them and heaven intervened to save them. If you can humbly turn unto God and pour out your mind unto Him in your teary repentance and turn from your wicked ways like Jonah, our Merciful God will intervene in your hopeless and helpless situation, he will deliver and safe you from the entrapment. “If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people; If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:13-14) The step you take when you find yourself in your entrapment will determine your supernatural deliverance of salvation or permanent entrapment in hell of destruction. Make the right choice today and cry Abba Father for your salvation.
Prayer: Merciful Father, bestow your mercy upon me and safe me from the entrapment of my sins in Jesus name. Father, I repent my sin and humbly plead that you forgive me my sins and deliver me from destruction of my physical and spiritual imprisonment in Jesus name, Amen.
