We have been hearing messages of disappointment from man saying, “The only thing that is certain on earth is the uncertainty itself.” Many are the messages of hope in the scripture that gladdens the hearts of the children of God in their challenging times, but nothing is comparable with the word of God in Malachi that says, “For I am the Lord, I do not change; Therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob. (Malachi 3:6) This powerful message exudes confidence, power and consistent unfailing abilities of the Almighty God, the Creator of Heaven and earth.
The Ever-present Almighty God declared, “I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images. (Isaiah 42:8) Because the Ever-present Almighty never changes, His revealed name is “I am,” not “I was.” I AM was the name He revealed unto Moses. “And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.” (Exodus 3:14) The leadership of Moses unto the Israelites was ascertained and accepted by the Israelites at the revelation of this name. This same name was also made known in our Lord Jesus Christ’s dialogues with His persecutors. “Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.” (John 8:58) The name of God is His divine identity, and the work of God is the traceable evidence of the power of His name. The book of Proverbs tells us that, “The name of the LORD is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe.” (Proverbs 18:10) Youthful David stepped into the battleground in the Valley of Elah against Goliath in the name of the Lord, he said, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the LORD of Hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.” David defeated the renowned giant warrior of the Philistine by the power of the revealed name of God.
The ordinance of Almighty God is always constant. It is an unchanging and enduring divine mechanism that constantly and systematically causing the whole universe to function and run smoothly according to His divine will and intentions. We can behold the permanency of the unchanging faithfulness of God in what He had created. A day had never failed without the breaking forth of the scintillating bright light to wake up the living things that operates during the day. The night had never failed to reveal the lesser lights of the night in the midst of dark night. “Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The LORD of hosts is his name.” (Jeremiah 31:35) The Lord God Almighty ascertained in Genesis saying, “As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night shall never cease.” (Genesis 8:22)
The consistency of our Merciful God does not change, that is why “His mercy and compassions fail not and changes not. The book of Lamentation says, “It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.” (Lamentation 3:22-23) The standard of His relationship with humanity which is entrenched in His righteousness does not change. Humanity are made to be the beneficiary of the righteousness of our Lord Jesus Christ through faith. “But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference” (Romans 3:21-22)
The nature of His holiness does not change and His expected standard of holiness in our relationship with Him does not change. In the Old Testament Mosaic Law He commanded His children, “For I am the LORD your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy …” (Leviticus 11:44) In the New Testament, our Heavenly Father maintained the same standard of His holiness, “Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord.” (Hebrews 12:14)
God is truthful. Those who knew Him and walked with Him testified that He is a truthful Almighty God. He warned humanity against lying and falsehood in His commandment. His uprightness and truthfulness had not changed. “That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie …” (Hebrew 6:18) “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6) “He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true.” (John 3:33) The constitution of the nations of the world is always changing with unlimited amendments, but the word of God is everlasting because is its foundation was laid on the truth and righteousness. “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.” (Matthew 24:35) The Psalmist confirmed the infallibility of the word of God saying, “Your word, O LORD, is everlasting; it is firmly fixed in the heavens.” (Psalm 119:89)
We beheld confidence in the personality of God because He changeth not. The power and protection in the name of the Lord has been revealed to humanity in the word of God. The ordinance of His divine ability that controls the function of the whole universe does not change. We learnt that it is absolutely impossible for God to lie because He is the truth personification and finally, the word of God sealed everything with the fact that the constancy of the mercy and compassion of God does not fail. I can therefore boldly take a leap of faith and prayerfully declare saying, “If the Unchanging Almighty God, the Alfa and Omega, who laid the foundation of the earth, remains on His throne in Heaven from the beginning of creation to the end thereof, the unpleasant situations in my life must yield and bow to the control and authority of God. The situational problems of my life must straighten up and fall in line according to the ordinance of the mercy and compassion of the Living Heavenly Father, in Jesus name, Amen.
