There are some specific giants dwelling among men that were mentioned in the Scripture. It includes the Nephilim, the Rephaim, the Zuzim, the Emim, the Horites, etc.  Anakims are the sons of the Nephilim. The following Scripture verses clearly documented the existence of these giants at some point in ages dwelling among men.

“There were Nephilim (men of stature, notorious men) on the earth in those days–and also afterward–when the sons of God lived with the daughters of men, and they gave birth to their children. These were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown (great reputation, fame).  (Genesis 6:4AMP) Ten out of the twelve spies that Moses sent to walk through the land of Canaan gave a report that, “… we saw the Nephilim (the sons of Anak are part of the Nephilim); and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.” (Numbers 13.33)

“In the fourteenth year Chedorlaomer and the [three] kings who were with him attacked and subdued the Rephaim in Ashteroth-karnaim, the Zuzim in Ham, and the Emim in Shaveh-kiriathaim, and the Horites in their mountainous country of Seir, (Genesis 14:5-6) These giant were so massive in size, very tall and far beyond average heights and sizes of normal men, so strong physically.  Goliath, Ishbi-benob, Sippai and Lahmi, the brother of Goliath were part of them.  Some of them have six fingers each on their hands and six toes each on their feet.

Now it came about after this that war broke out at Gezer with the Philistines; then Sibbecai the Hushathite killed Sippai, one of the descendants of the giants, and they were subdued. There was war again with the Philistines, and Elhanan the son of Jair killed Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the shaft of whose spear was like a weaver’s beam. Again there was war at Gath, where there was a man of great stature who had twenty-four fingers and toes, six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot; and he also was descended from the giants. When he taunted Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimea, David’s brother, killed him. These were descended from the giants in Gath, and they fell by the hand of David and by the hand of his servants. (1 Chronicles. 20:4-8)

The famous Og, king of Bashan was part of the giants. The dimensions of his bed frame was twelve by six feet cubic feet.  (For only Og king of Bashan was left of the remnant of the [giants known as the] Rephaim. Behold, his bed frame was a bed frame of iron; is it not in Rabbah of the Ammonites? It was nine cubits (12 ft.) long and four cubits (6 ft.) wide, using the cubit of a man [the forearm to the end of the middle finger].) (Deuteronomy 3:11 AMP) He also died in battle under the leadership of Moses.  “And they possessed his land, and the land of Og king of Bashan, two kings of the Amorites, which were on this side Jordan toward the sunrising.” (Deuteronomy 4:47)

The mystery of the extinction of these massive giant is thought provoking, and it should be a lesson for anyone that is enlightened in the understanding of what the fear of God entails.  Have you imagined how the little David was able kill the massive and gigantic Goliath, a renowned Phillistine warrior? Again, how was Abishai the son of Zeruah, little in stature person, also the nephew of David kill the Ishbi-benob, the brother of Goliath? Lastly how was the little Jonathan, the son of Shimea, David’s brother was able to kill Lahmi, another brother of Goliath in the family of Philistine giants?  The answer can be found in the word of God.  God specialized in using the foolish things to confound the wise.  In this scenario, He used the little normal sized people to totally eradicate and eliminate the giants that once upon a time dwelt on earth to shame them so that they will not be able to use their strength and size to intimidate and bully upon the normal size human beings. “But God has selected [for His purpose] the foolish things of the world to shame the wise [revealing their ignorance], and God has selected [for His purpose] the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong [revealing their frailty]. God has selected [for His purpose] the insignificant (base) things of the world, and the things that are despised and treated with contempt, [even] the things that are nothing, so that He might reduce to nothing the things that are, so that no one may [be able to] boast in the presence of God.” (1 Corinthians 1:27-29 AMP)

One common denominator of all the giants of the Canaanites was that they were all idolaters. They only relished in their idol god in their physical strength for war. None of them was credited with any inclination of godliness.  One can easily understand why God delivered evil giant to destruction in the hands of the Israelites.

There are many evil giants that are plaguing humanity today. A little dose of humility in the authority of the word of God will subdue the giant of arrogance and pride. God is able to “Look on every one that is proud, and bring him low; and tread down the wicked in their place.” (Job 40:12) Keeping malice and unconfessed sin is an evil giant warring against spirituality of mankind, an antidote of humble and sincere repentance will eliminate the giant. “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.” (Proverbs 28:13) Unbelief is another name of giant that is plaguing mankind. The tiny little mustard seed size of faith is sufficient to destroy the giant and cause the mighty mountain size of your problem to shift its base into the place of destruction. “And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.” (Matthew 17:20)

What is that giant in your life that is harassing, intimidating and working negatively against you? If only you can identify the sinful giant, disassociate yourself from it, and on your knees subject it to the power of prayer, in the strength of faith, it will amaze you how the giant will crash and be subdued victoriously under your feet. “Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain …” (Zecharia 4:7) The prophetic utterance of the Lord has been pronounced to your situation, all the intimidating and hindrance giants of your lives shall be brought to nothing in victory, in Jesus name, Amen.

Prayer:  Merciful Father I take up the mantle of Your mercy and grace as I confront all the intimidating giants of my life by faith in your word, endow me with an unprecedented power to be victorious over all the evil giants in Jesus name, Amen. Heavenly Father, please Lord, “Do not deliver me to the will of my adversaries” (Psalm 27:12) in Jesus name, Amen.
