Attending the School of Holy Spirit

One of the questions that come up when we think about schools usually is, “Why do we go to school?” The answer could be as simple as ‘to learn things that we never knew before.’ Schools may also be described as a place where people are delivered from the clutches of ignorance and placed in the company of knowledgeable people. Finally, we go to school in order to discover our potentialities in light of the education available to us and at the same time position ourselves to be available for the opportunities in the field of our specializations so that we can be useful in the community.

Understanding the reason why we are going to secular schools will explain the many interesting reasons why people should aspire to attend the School of Holy Spirit. Most of the activities in the school of Holy Spirit are not regulated by the secular governments, which is why some people assumed that the glorious school is not all that important. Many people are partaking in various Christian programs that gear towards our understanding about our Creator which allow us to understand the way we need to pattern our lives after His blessed wills. Unwittingly, in the process of these, we are all attending the School of Holy Spirit. Along the line, the Lord who searches the hearts of all men will discover that your heart is steady and ready for His higher calling. Just like the way scholarships are extended to excellent scholars in the secular education, He will call you unto Himself to specially prepare you further for the purpose of His ministry.

There are instances in the scripture that point to this topic. God told Abram to leave his people behind and go to a place that He will show him. “Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.” (Genesis 12:1-3 KJV) He did not wait for the promise to manifest before he yielded himself to the directive of God. With the consistency and steadfastness that Abram demonstrated in the course of his walking with God, the Heavenly Father moved from His promises of blessing to a covenant relationship with him. Abraham continued faithfully and steadfastly and finally God cemented His relationship with Abraham with an oath which was no longer dependent upon the performances of Abraham, the man of God.

The attention of Moses was stirred by the burning bushes. He must’ve said to himself, I will turn aside to see why the bush is burning but was not consumed. Moses turned aside, and he heard the heavenly instructions. “And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I. And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.” (Genesis 3:4-5 KJV) From the burning bush experience Moses became an appointed servant of God and led the Israelites out of the land of Egypt. Consistently, obediently and steadfastly Moses excelled in his calling and finally God called him to the mountain top of Mount Sinai to obtain the Ten Commandments—the instrument of the law of God that the Israelites and the entire human race are to live by.

Saul of Tarsus experienced similar invitation when he encountered our Lord Jesus Christ on His way to Damascus to obtain a legal authority to arrest the disciples of Jesus Christ. “And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven: And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.” (Acts 9:3-6 KJV) After yielding to the calling of Most High God, Saul of Tarsus, now Paul, later became an Apostle of Jesus Christ to the Gentile nations. The grace was extended to him to author about two-third of the New Testaments books in the Bible.

The prophets of old were called into the school of Holy Spirit and so also were the Apostles of Jesus Christ. So many leaders had discovered their usefulness in the Lord after they attended the School of Holy Spirit. Perhaps you are wondering about the required qualifications before one can be enrolled in the School of Holy Spirit.  The eligibility process is simple.  You must be born again. Obedience to the precept of righteousness and holiness is standard. “If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the best of the land.” (Isaiah 1:19) You must come to the Lord with pure heart and clean hands. Who may ascend the hill of the LORD? Who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to an idol or swear deceitfully.” (Psalm 24:3-4) You must be holy. Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord.” (Hebrews 12:14) The Lord God Almighty is still accepting applications in the School of Holy Spirit! He is still searching for hearts that are ready to be called to the mountain top of His glory. “For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.” (2 Chronicles 16:9 JKV) If you desire that mountain top experience and you are ready and available the Lord will call you, equip you and perfect your life for His glory.

Prayer: O Lord, Like Isaiah, your faithful servant, “Here I am, send me.” Empower me in your righteousness and equip me with your power so that I can become an active and effective instrument in your hand for this end time ministry, in Jesus name, Amen.
