Mystery of Blinking of Eyes

Virtually everything that happens around us has unique reasons and it contains the message of God to us. Since this is the case, it means we have important lesson to learn from it if we can pay a very detail attention to various occurrences around us.

I have been thinking lately about why  we do blink our eyes. Blinking of eyes is the quick impulsive action of closing and opening of our eyelids. Blinking is so fast that we may not even notice that we are doing it. The scientist says, “Blinking is necessary because it clears away dust particles and lubricates the eyeball. The average blink takes about 400 milliseconds. Even though you probably don’t notice it, the average person blinks approximately once every 10 seconds.”  Wikipedia tells us that, “The eyelid provides suction across the eye from the tear duct to the entire eyeball to keep it from drying out. Blinking also protects the eye from irritants . . .”

From the two accounts of the school of thoughts about blinking, when we blink our eyes, we are clearing, cleaning and lubricating our eyeball so that we can see effectively. Consistently in the mighty wisdom of Almighty God, the blinking of our eyes refreshes our eye-balls as well as our physical visions. From this amazing creative wisdom of Almighty God, Mary Anderson (1866-1953) an American real estate developer invented the windshield wiper blade that performs the action of blinking of eyes. In 1922, Cadillac car manufacturing companies, adopted the windshield wipers invention as standard equipment at the front and the back of their car’s windshields that performs the same function of blinking of the eyes.  As these wipers swings left to right, back and forth, it cleans the dust and rain droplets on the windshield in the frosty days so that the car-drivers that serves as the eyeball of the car can see the front and the back of the car properly.

In order to attain very good physical vision with our eye-glasses, we frequently wipe it clean with soft tissue. In the same manner the scripture admonished us to renew and refresh the spiritual windshield of the eyes our minds with the word of God so that we can prove what is good, acceptable and perfect will of God. “Be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” (Romans 12:2) If we do not renew our mind with the windshield-wiper of the word of God, a spiritual cloudy vision will accumulate and take over. We cannot allow the wickedness, unforgiving spirit, obscenities and spiritual frostiness of this world to cloud our spiritual vision.  We cannot afford to be unwittingly yielding and conforming to the spiritual blindness of this world that can deter us from doing the acceptable and perfect will of God. The wisdom of God will prevail in our minds from this day forward as we consider the necessity of daily renewal of our minds in the perfect will of God.

Prayer: O Lord, I will not conform with the wickedness and obscenities of this world. Endow me with the grace to renew my mind in the wealth of your wisdom in order that I may behold the beauty of your glory and able to do the acceptable and perfect will of God in Jesus name.
