Heavenly Executive Order

One of the most important “presidential” instrument of authority in our modern democratic government is an executive order. An executive order is a written, signed, and published directive from the President of the United States that manages operations of the federal government. Executive orders are not legislation; they require no approval from Congress, and Congress cannot simply overturn them.[1]

The quotation above is to give an idea of what the executive order is all about. The biggest desk of any leader in the whole world is the desk in the office of the President of United State of America. The dimension of the desk is not measured in terms of numerical units of measurement but is measured in terms of the power and authorities of the office of the President. We have been beholding the power and authority of numerous executive orders issued by various presidents since the inception of this great country to govern the affairs of the subjects in this nation. They are all remarkable and powerful. With a stroke of a pen and the powerful signature of the President, a major directive that can impart on the governance of the whole nation can be implemented.

Greater than any executive order that any powerful leader can issue in any nation on earth is the spiritual executive order from the office of a faithful prayer warrior that is constantly, fervently and consistently standing in gap in the presence of Almighty God. The scripture affirmed the office of the prayer warriors and all the servants of God that are passionately seeking God’s face and said, Thou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he shall hear thee, and thou shalt pay thy vows. Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.” (Job 22:27-28)

Some of these faithful servants of God issued executive orders in their ministries and the awesome power of Almighty God confirmed it.  At the crucial moment in the ministry of Joshua during the battle of Israelites against the Amorites, he spoke to God in prayer and in the presence of the children of Israel, saying,Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon. And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed … So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day. And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the LORD hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the LORD fought for Israel.” (Joshua 10:12-14)

A need arose in the ministry of Elijah the Tishibite to correct the idolatry mindset of the people of Israel who were now worshipping idol god of Baal instead of God Almighty.  He went to the palace of King Ahab to issue an executive order as a way of pointing to the king that the nation had strayed away from God.  He said in the presence of the king, “… As the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.” (1 Kings 17:1) New Testament confirmed the same event, in the book of James saying, “Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.” (James 5:17-18)

One of the most brilliant prayer ever made by man was effected by King Solomon at the dedication of the Temple of Solomon.  One important thing to note was that, King Solomon was not a priest, he was not a prophet but a king of the nation of Israel.  He knelt in the outer court of the temple to pray an extensive prayer presenting the spiritual needs of the nation before God. God honored the humble prayer of the faithful king with fire. “Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the LORD filled the house. And the priests could not enter into the house of the LORD, because the glory of the LORD had filled the LORD’S house.

There is privilege for the seekers of God. No one on his own accord possess the audacity to challenge God concerning the work of His hands. This rare privilege is giving to those who seek God in prayer. “Thus saith the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me. (Isaiah 45:11) Abraham interceded in prayer for Sodom and Gomorrah that He might spare ten righteous in the cities. “And he said, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak yet but this once: Peradventure ten shall be found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for ten’s sake.” (Genesis 18:32) Moses was able to appeal to God in prayer and pacified His anger against the sinful nation of Israel. He said, “O LORD! “Why are you so angry with your own people whom you brought from the land of Egypt with such great power and such a strong hand? Why let the Egyptians say, ‘Their God rescued them with the evil intention of slaughtering them in the mountains and wiping them from the face of the earth’? Turn away from your fierce anger. Change your mind about this terrible disaster you have threatened against your people! Remember your servants Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. You bound yourself with an oath to them, saying, ‘I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars of heaven. And I will give them all of this land that I have promised to your descendants, and they will possess it forever.’” So the LORD changed his mind about the terrible disaster he had threatened to bring on his people. (Exodus 32:11-14)

When the children of God who is worthy of their salt are on their knees praying unto God, they are molding and shaping the affairs of mankind on the surface of the earth to their selfless righteous desires and for the glory of God according to the authority and grace of God in the ministry of prayer warriors.  When we are on our knees seeking the face of God in prayer, the angels of God on assignment are patiently and eagerly waiting for the commands at our mouths to execute those commandments. Daniel had a vivid experience of this scenario in his prayer ministry. The angel of God said to Daniel, “Don’t be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day you began to pray for understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your request has been heard in heaven. I have come in answer to your prayer.” (Daniel 10:12)

The book of Ecclesiastes 3:1 tells us that, “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” In the same like-manner, our Heavenly Father desires a quality and consistent set time for our prayer relationship with Him.  We should not allow anything to frustrate our prayer time with God. Prayer is not a quick-fix business as we always presume. It’s not only about our teeny-weeny personal needs. Prayer is a privileged relationship; the seekers of God are required to seek Him fervently and earnestly for laudable purposes. “Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:12-13) The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” (James 5:16)

Rest assured beloved servants of the Most High God, our God is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.” (Hebrew 11:6) He will adequately reward your labor of diligence prayer immensely. There are spiritual duties awaiting the deft touch of diligent seekers of God. Our nations need the divine intervention of Almighty God for peace and healing of our lands. It is time to go to God on our knees to issue extensive spiritual executive orders in our prayer that God may avert disasters in our nations. Let us pray that we may dwell in the abundance peace of God in our nations and that our leaders may guide us in the fear of God and rule us in the abundant wisdom of God in Jesus name, Amen.

Prayer: O Lord, empower my quest to approach your throne of grace with holy hands and righteous spirit. Inspire my spirit with your anointing and wisdom. Grant me divine enablement to seek your face fervently and earnestly for your divine intervention in the affairs of mankind purposefully for your glory, in Jesus name, Amen.
